Freedom

31 01 2008

Looking forward to the weekend, we’re off to Grandma Zilla’s tomorrow afternoon.

With luck there will be the copious amounts of snow forecast, and I can indulge my childish love of it!

Now all I need to do is getting the piles of work on my desk down….

Is it wrong

30 01 2008

to think that Godzooky 3 bears more than a passing resemblance to Lloyd from the film Dumb and Dumber?

Work Update

29 01 2008

I can’t recall mentioning this, but I’ve submitted an official appeal to ge my job re-evaluated.

I think I’ve got good grounds and should be in line for an increase.

If I do succeed that will be back dated to October 2005, but there will still be a slight issue of the years 2003 to 2005 to sort out.

Hopefully good news will follow….

Reaping what you sow

28 01 2008

Godzooky 2’s display of selflessness and consideration got her a reward.

Our neighbour was so touched by her thoughtfulness that she brought her a small present round: a shocking pink handbag.

It can’t have cost much, but Godzooky 2 was thrilled with it.

It made Godzooky 1 think a bit as well: seeing his sister getting rewarded for being nice to someone else.

Sweet

25 01 2008

Last night we were just going indoors when our next door neighbour came out. We got talking, as you do, and she mentioned that she’d broken her reading glasses and was going to have to get new ones.

Talk moved onto other things and I suddenly noticed that Godzooky 2 was not with us. Looking around, she suddenly emerged from the house with something in her hand.

She had gone indoors and fetched her Barbie sunglasses. She told our neighbour that she could have them, to replace her broken glasses.

What a lovely gesture for a 3 year old to make.

It was quite funny watching our neighbour try to wriggle out of accepting the gift too!

I thought I had nothing to post…

then I read this:

Woof

Surely he could have claimed she was a guide goth?

Now that will get any curious people clicking the link!

Nothing much

24 01 2008

to post, so I’m sharing these that amused me:

You might not have known this, but a lot of non-living objects are actually
either male or female.  Here are some examples:

FREEZER BAGS: They are male, because they hold everything in, but you
can see right through them.

PHOTOCOPIERS: These are female, because once turned off; it takes a
while to warm them up again. They are an effective reproductive device
if the right buttons are pushed, but can also wreak havoc if you push
the wrong Buttons.

TYRES: Tyres are male, because they go bald easily and are often over
inflated

HOT AIR BALLOONS: Also a male object, because to get them to go anywhere, you have to light a fire under their butt.

SPONGES: These are female, because they are soft, squeezable and retain water.

WEB PAGES: Female, because they’re constantly being looked at and
frequently getting hit on.

TRAINS: Definitely male, because they always use the same old lines for
picking up people.

EGG TIMERS: Egg timers are female because, over time, all the weight
shifts to the bottom.

HAMMERS: Male, because in the last 5000 years, they’ve hardly changed at all, and are occasionally handy to have around.

THE REMOTE CONTROL: Female. Ha! You probably thought it would be male, but consider this: It easily gives a man pleasure, he’d be lost without it, and while he doesn’t always know which buttons to push, he just keeps trying

First Crush

23 01 2008

Godzooky 1 has developed his first celebrity crush.

He’s already had a few about various girls at school, despite his tender age of 8.

I don’t recall myself being interested in girls like that, at such an early age.

His celeb crush has developed via a video game he played; no, it’s not Tomb Raider or Angeline Jolie.

He got really into the song Girlfriend by Avril Lavigne, which was on the video game soundtrack.

He seems to have developed this into something more now, and spent some of his Christmas money on her CD and a large poster which now adorns the space above his bed.

All this adds credence to my belief that kids are growing up faster these days. I didn’t buy my first album until I was 11, and I never had any posters of women on my bedroom walls.

In fairness to him, his taste in music isn’t too bad. I’d rather he listened to Avril Lavigne than some reality show winner, who doesn’t write their own songs.

I hope he carries on with a taste for rock music rather than the hip hop and R’n’B stuff which leaves me cold in general.

Bless

22 01 2008

Last night an advert for Disneyland came on tv, and Godzooky 2 turned to me and asked if she could go.

I replied: “One day, maybe”

Which prompted Godzooky 1 to respond with “Can I go too?”

I was about to reply in the affirmative, when another little voice piped up: “Can I come too?”

Godzooky 3 doesn’t string too many sentences together yet, (“Don’t do dat”, is one of the few he can manage, probably through sheer repetition!) but he certainly worked  that one out quickly!

A good weekend

21 01 2008

I’ve had a really nice weekend.

The trip to the football match on Saturday was a goo dchance to bond and talk with Godzooky 1.

It was also a relief to escape the wet weather: it was dry in Blackburn.

Our team should have easily won the match, but the need for a quality striker was more evident than ever with the woeful finishing that we witnessed. Even Godzooky 1 reckoned he could have scored with a couple of the chances created!

The home crowd was decidedly subdued, for parts of the first half it was almost as if they were a cardboard cutout crowd, such was  their lack of passion and singing.

There were a few Brentford fans in our away end, as their local match had been called off due to a waterlogged pitch. They were making more noise than the Blackburn fans!

Despite taking an early lead, our team just could finish the opposition off, and I sensed that a draw was on the cards.

Godzooky 1 still enjoyed himself and it was nice to spend some one on one time with him. He seems to open up more when we’re on our own, and confides a lot in me then.

Sunday was spent helping him with his homework and playing with the smaller Godzookies.

It’s been nice giving them all their own bit of attention. You definitely reap what you sow.
